Rakefet Kenaan

Rakefet Kenaan was born, lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. She loves to travel worldwide whenever she gets a chance. She spent 5 years studying in NYC and graduated from The Cooper Union for The Advancement of Science and Art in 1990.

Since completing her studies she's created art and illustration for magazines, annual reports, calendars, posters etc., mostly in the U.S. and Israel.
In parallel she's taken part in some funky art projects, exhibited artwork in galleries and she's received numerous awards for her work.

Rakefet has been teaching Illustration and “Color” at Shenkar School of Engineering and Design in Tel Aviv since 1995. Sometimes her students drive her crazy.

In 2007 she conceptualized and illustrated “Tikiliton,” a picture book based on recordings released in the 70's by singer Chava Alberstein who narrated a story compiled of classic children's folk songs. This book is considered a classic revival.

In 2008 Rakefet started doing other things apart from painting and illustrating such as jewelry making, felting and participation in “Avir Avir” (Air), a ring exhibition that took place in Tel Aviv and “Gallery Loupe” in Montclair NJ. In 2008, she designed the set and costumes for a dance performance of “The Four Seasons,” inspired by the music of Antonio Vivaldi. It was great fun!
